I saw a great interview with Jerry back when Hot Shots was released. He is (was) a lobbyist working on California State issues in Sacramento. After the movies he could get face time with almost any state official as long as he would pose for a picture with them.
Kind of a weird image--people wanting a picture of them and "Saddam."
