Soldiers

I love this country and am so proud of the soldiers who defend it. When I read about this sniper attack I was unsurprised when I read this part:

As Tschiderer secured the terrorist with a pair of handcuffs, he gave medical aid to the wounded terrorist- the same one that tried to take his life.

(ht: Michelle Malkin) Unsurprised, because that is the character of the men and women who serve in the US Armed Forces.

O beautiful for heroes prov'd
In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved,
And mercy more than life.

America! America!
God mend thine ev'ry flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law.
